About Swinderby CHOPS
CHOPS stands for Central Heating Oil Purchasing Scheme. It is a simple way for people in Swinderby to save money on their heating oil.
How it works
-
Every two months we collect heating oil orders from our members. Before each order date we contact members by email.
-
On the order date we buy all the orders together as one bulk delivery to the village. This is usually at least one full tanker and more than 25 homes. Buying this much at once means we can get a better price for everyone.
-
We then tell every member who has ordered which company is supplying the oil, the price per litre and the delivery date.
Paying for your oil
Swinderby CHOPS never takes any money. The oil company will phone you to take payment by debit card before your delivery. If you are hard to reach by phone, please ring the oil company yourself so your delivery is not missed.
We have no link with any oil company and we make nothing from running the scheme.
Good to know
-
The smallest order is 500 litres. This is set by the oil suppliers.
-
If you run out of oil between our orders, you are welcome to buy oil elsewhere.
-
Order dates are on our order dates page and in the Swinderby Linkup magazine.
-
Not sure how big your oil tank is? Our tank size guide can help you find out.
